About

What This Is

India has a vast catalogue of monsters almost nobody outside their own districts has heard of. Water spirits that drown people in village ponds. Were-tigers. A witch whose spine hangs on her wall as a bamboo bow. Most have never been filmed.

TalesOfSpecter retells them as short horror films. Season One covered nine, across six months.

The Folklore Is Real

Nothing is invented. No added powers, no added weaknesses, no events that aren't attested in the source. What changes is order and pacing — ninety seconds is a hard constraint and folklore was not written for it. Where an episode departs, the creature's page says so.

The primary source is Ghosts, Monsters, and Demons of India. Each page cites the chapter it draws from.

Why There's a Website

Ninety seconds has room for one version of a story. The research always turns up more — a second name, a male counterpart nobody tells stories about, the real names of the three plants a witch grows as weapons. That material goes here.

How It's Made

AI image and video generation, assembled shot by shot against a written narration. Closer to animation than filming: every character gets a reference sheet before a single shot exists, so the same face survives twenty clips. Each creature's page carries notes on what broke and what fixed it.

Who Makes It

Sarfaraz H — software architect and AI filmmaker. The series runs on YouTube and Instagram.
